Blender to Daz Studio plugin

The bridge uses a two-part installation requiring components in both DAZ Studio and Blender:

DAZ Studio: Extract the purchased BlenderToDazStudio zip file, copy the included Matronius folder (containing BlenderToDazStudio.dll on Windows or BlenderToDazStudio.dylib on macOS), and paste it into the DAZ Studio plugins directory (default: C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins).

Blender 3.6 LTS: Open Blender, go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, click Install…, select Blender add-on.zip, click Install Add-on, and check the box next to BlenderToDazStudio to activate it.

Blender 4.3+: Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, click the dropdown arrow at the top right, select Install from Disk, choose Blender add-on.zip, and enable the extension.

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or macOS 11+.

  • Host Software: Blender version 3.6 LTS, 4.2 LTS, or 4.3+; DAZ Studio version 4.23 or 4.24+ (64-bit). Blender 5+ is NOT supported at present.

  • Hardware: A minimum of 8 GB RAM and adequate disk space for temporary texture baking and scene cache files.

To prevent library conflicts between versions, do not overwrite the files while Blender is running:

In Blender, open Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, search for BlendertoDazStudio, expand the add-on card, click Remove, and confirm.

Restart Blender completely to unload the Python cache.

Install the updated Blender add-on.zip using the standard installation steps.

In DAZ Studio, replace the existing Matronius folder in your plugins directory with the new version.

This occurs because DAZ Studio cannot parse Blender’s internal shader graph nodes directly. To transfer textures successfully: In the Blender sidebar bridge panel, open Merge Textures, select your desired resolution ($1024\times 1024$, $2048\times 2048$, or $4096\times 4096$ pixels), and click All or Selected to bake procedural nodes into flat image maps prior to export. Verify that all materials use the Principled BSDF shader (non-PBR or legacy shaders are not supported) and that texture inputs are connected correctly: Base Color to Base Color, Roughness to Roughness, and Normal Map through an intermediate Normal Map node. Ensure a valid directory is assigned in the Texture Output field.

DAZ Studio will not launch automatically if the path to the executable has not been established in Blender. In the Blender sidebar panel under Daz Executables, click the + icon, browse to your DAZ Studio binary (such as C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\bin\DAZStudio.exe), and click Add Daz Executables.

This crash stems from an upstream geometry editor bug in DAZ Studio when handling newly imported vertex-to-face group conversions. Attempting to isolate or hide face groups immediately after bridge export triggers a fatal application shutdown.

Workaround: Complete your export, save the scene inside DAZ Studio as a .duf file, close DAZ Studio, and relaunch the application. Once reopened, all Face Groups can be hidden and unhidden safely via the Geometry Editor tool.

Blender relies on Bezier curves for animation timing, which DAZ Studio does not natively support. The bridge automatically converts animation keyframes on export:

Select TCB (Tension, Continuity, Bias) for character armatures, skeletal poses, and facial morphs, as it provides natural easing between keyframes.

Select Linear for hard-surface models, vehicles, machinery, or architectural elements that require constant velocity.

Yes. The plugin is built for full-scene production transfers:

Rigs & Armatures: Custom skeletal hierarchies, bone roll angles, and vertex weight maps are exported without requiring manual rigging inside DAZ.

Shape Keys: Blender shape keys are automatically converted into native DAZ Studio Morphs, complete with their min and max slider limits.

Lighting & Cameras: Point, Sun, Spot, and Area lights are transferred with color and converted into equivalent DAZ lumens, alongside cameras and HDRI dome environments.

Yes. All direct purchases on Matronius are covered by our 30-Day Performance Guarantee. If the bridge cannot be successfully deployed or does not function within your production pipeline after working with our support team, you can request a 100% refund within 30 days of purchase.

Daz Studio Universal Product Installer

Installation is now fully automated via a dedicated setup installer:

Run the Installer: Download and launch the UniversalProductInstaller .exe file.

Automatic Detection: The installer automatically scans your system to locate existing DAZ Studio installations (such as DAZ Studio 4.x and DAZ Studio 6).

Select Target Directory: When prompted, select or confirm the DAZ Studio directory where you want the plugin installed (especially useful if you maintain multiple DAZ versions or custom install paths).

Complete Installation: Click Install. The setup wizard deploys the required plugin binaries into your DAZ Studio plugins folder automatically.

Open in DAZ Studio: Launch DAZ Studio and access the tool from the top menu bar under Window > Panes (Tabs) > Universal Product Installer or via the Matronius toolbar.

Operating System: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), and macOS 11+ (Intel x86-64 and Apple Silicon via Rosetta 2).

DAZ Studio Compatibility: Fully compatible with DAZ Studio 4.12 through 4.24 (both 64-bit and 32-bit), as well as DAZ Studio 6.

Hardware: Minimum 4 GB RAM (8 GB+ recommended for batch decompressing multi-gigabyte asset bundles).

UPI v2 features built-in decompression engines supporting .zip, .rar, .7z, .tar, and .gz archives. You do not need external tools like WinRAR or 7-Zip installed. You can install single packages or queue dozens of archives at once by selecting multiple files in the file browser or dragging and dropping entire folders of archives directly into the Install Tab queue.

By default, UPI unpacks and arranges product directories inside your user profile under Documents/Matronius. However, you can configure any directory or existing DAZ content library folder (such as an external SSD or custom My DAZ 3D Library path) within the Settings Tab. UPI organizes standard DAZ directory trees (/data/, /People/, /Runtime/, /Environments/) automatically during extraction.

To upgrade UPI v2 safely:

Close DAZ Studio.

Launch the .exe file of the new version.

Relaunch DAZ Studio. All your previously installed products, custom tags, thumbnail assignments, and Smart Content links remain stored in your persistent DAZ database and will not be overwritten or lost.

Unlike manual file extraction which litters files across nested runtime directories, UPI tracks every unpacked file. To delete a package:

-Open the Content Tab inside the UPI panel.

-Locate the product in your library list.

-Right-click the item and select Uninstall.

-Confirm removal. UPI automatically deletes all associated meshes, textures, and user presets from your hard drive and purges the product record from the DAZ Studio Smart Content database, preventing broken icons and orphaned files.

When third-party items install successfully but are missing from Smart Content, the view is almost always being restricted by contextual filtering. At the bottom of the DAZ Studio Smart Content pane, locate the “Filter By Context” checkbox and uncheck it. When active, context filtering hides any asset that does not explicitly match the figure or prop currently selected in your viewport. Unchecking it makes your entire installed library visible immediately.

The red highlight serves two distinct diagnostic functions depending on which tab you are viewing:

Install Tab (Red Row): The installation process failed. This occurs when the downloaded archive is corrupted, password-protected, or lacks a standard DAZ directory layout (such as missing root runtime or content folders).

Content Tab (Red Row): The product installed successfully and is functional, but the vendor did not include a preview image or thumbnail inside the archive.

You can assign or customize product thumbnails instantly without opening image editors:

Navigate to the Content Tab in UPI and locate the product.

Find any promotional picture, render, or screenshot (either on your computer as a .jpg/.png or directly from an online product page in your web browser).

Drag and drop the image directly onto the product row in the UPI window.

The thumbnail updates immediately across both the UPI management table and the native DAZ Studio Smart Content browser.

Yes. Beyond installing third-party content, UPI v2 includes full metadata authorship tools for vendors and independent artists. You can organize custom props, clothing, materials, and characters, assign category paths and figure compatibility tags, attach promotional thumbnails, and export distribution-ready archives with integrated metadata ready to sell on marketplaces like Renderosity, 3D Shards, or RenderHub.

Yes. Every direct purchase on Matronius is protected by our 30-Day Performance Guarantee (represented by the golden dragon shield badge). If UPI v2 fails to install your third-party archives or cannot integrate into your DAZ Studio workflow after contacting our support desk, you can request a 100% refund within 30 days of purchase.

You can open a support ticket directly through the Support Genix desk on our website. Select the DAZ Studio Universal Product Installer category, indicate your DAZ Studio version and operating system, and attach any problem archives or error logs. Photoshop to Blender plugin

The tool uses a two-part bridge system requiring installation in both applications:

Adobe Photoshop: Locate the PSL Exporter.jsx script inside your downloaded package, copy it, and paste it into Photoshop’s scripts folder (Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop [Version]\Presets\Scripts; macOS: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop [Version]/Presets/Scripts). Restart Photoshop; you can then access the tool under File > Scripts > PSL Exporter.

Blender (3.6 LTS – 4.3+): In Blender, open Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, click Install… (or Install from Disk in Blender 4.2+), choose the PhotoshopToBlender.zip file, and check the box to activate it. Once enabled, the importer is accessible under File > Import > Photoshop Layer (.psl).

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), and macOS 11+ (Intel x86-64 and Apple Silicon M-Series natively supported).

  • Photoshop Compatibility: Adobe Photoshop CS5 through Photoshop 2025.

  • Blender Compatibility: Blender 3.6 LTS, 4.2 LTS, 4.3+, and forward-compatible with Blender 5.x releases.

  • Hardware: Minimum 8 GB RAM; dedicated GPU recommended when converting complex multi-layer PSD files into high-density vector curves.

The .psl (Photoshop Layer) package is a specialized interchange archive engineered by Matronius. When you run File > Scripts > PSL Exporter in Photoshop, the script extracts raster boundaries, vector paths, font contours, and layer positions, packaging them into a single compressed .psl file. In Blender, running File > Import > Photoshop Layer (.psl) reads this package and reconstructs your 2D artwork as a structured 3D scene with textured planes, curves, and materials.

Photoshop layer groups are automatically converted into native Blender Collections. Nested Photoshop folders create nested Collections, while individual layers become separate objects matching their original layer names from your PSD. This eliminates manual outliner cleanup and keeps complex illustrations organized immediately upon import.

To update without caching issues:

In Blender, navigate to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, search for PhotoshopToBlender, expand the panel, click Remove, and close Blender.

Relaunch Blender and install the updated add-on zip file via Install from Disk.

In Photoshop, replace the older PSL Exporter.jsx file in your Presets/Scripts directory with the new file and restart Photoshop.

Photoshop text layers are extracted as clean vector curve outlines rather than rasterized images, allowing them to scale smoothly at any distance. Vector shape layers retain their Bezier point paths. When importing into Blender, checking the Extrude Vector Layers option automatically adds a Solidify modifier to give shapes and text thickness in the 3D viewport.

These settings fine-tune how raster layer edges are translated into vector geometry:

Threshold: Controls the alpha cutoff sensitivity used to identify the outer boundary of transparent raster layers.

Offset: Expands or contracts the contour border by a specific pixel margin to eliminate antialiased edge fringing.

Smooth: Simplifies curve point density along complex borders to prevent heavy meshes and keep viewport navigation responsive.

Blender’s 3D shader engine calculates light using physical PBR shading and cannot natively evaluate 2D Photoshop blend modes (such as Multiply, Screen, or Overlay), live adjustment layers (Curves, Levels), or layer styles (Drop Shadows, Outer Glows) across separate 3D planes.

Solution: Right-click styled layers, clipping masks, or adjustment stacks in Photoshop and convert them into Smart Objects or rasterize them before running the PSL Exporter.

Raster layers are mapped to Principled BSDF materials with transparency channels connected to the material Alpha input. To prevent Z-fighting (visual flickering when two flat surfaces share the exact same depth coordinate), the importer automatically applies a micro offset along the Z-axis (typically between $0.001\text{ and }0.01$ units), preserving the visual stacking order of your PSD canvas.

Yes. Every direct license purchased on Matronius comes with our 30-Day Performance Guarantee (marked by the golden dragon shield badge). If the plugin does not function within your production pipeline or fails to import your PSD files after working with our support team, you can request a 100% refund within 30 days of purchase.

SwitchTargets for Moho Pro 14

SwitchTargets requires Moho Pro 14 running on either Windows 64-bit or macOS 11 or later. On macOS, the application is built for Intel x86-64 and runs on Apple Silicon systems through Rosetta 2.

Ensure Moho Pro 14 is closed before installing or updating SwitchTargets.

-Windows: Run SwitchTargets [version] Win.exe with administrator permissions. The installer automatically detects your Moho custom content folder, or allows manual selection if detection fails.

-macOS: Run SwitchTargets [version] Mac.app. The installer places the app under /Applications/Matronius and prompts for administrator approval if required to write to /Applications or the Moho content folder. Start or restart Moho after the installation finishes.

On macOS, SwitchTargets requires accessibility permissions to operate alongside Moho. Upon first use, allow Switch Targets under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility when prompted.

To launch the interface, open your document in Moho Pro 14 and go to Scripts > Matronius > SwitchTargets from the menu bar.

Yes, the SwitchTargets window can remain open and associated with Moho while you continue working on your project.

The left panel displays switch layers in your document hierarchy, including nested switch layers. Check the switch layers you want to control, and their target groups will appear in the right panel. SwitchTargets automatically remembers checked switch layers, expanded layer-tree items, and expanded target groups for each Moho document.

Click any target thumbnail in the right panel to switch to that target layer. Clicking a thumbnail automatically creates a switch keyframe at the current frame in your Moho timeline. The current target remains highlighted within each displayed target group.

Thumbnails are rendered based on the current Moho frame and generated in sizes ranging from 16 x 16 to 256 x 256 pixels in 16-pixel steps. You can generate them in three ways: Single Target: Right-click a target thumbnail in the right panel and select Generate Thumbnail. Switch Layer: Right-click a switch layer in the left panel and select Generate Thumbnails to create thumbnails for all its switch targets. Parent Layer Hierarchy: Right-click a parent layer in the left panel and select Generate Thumbnails to recursively generate thumbnails for all enclosed switch targets.

Generated thumbnails are saved in the Moho custom content folder under Shared Resources/Matronius/SwitchTargets/Thumbnails and linked to layers via layer metadata. After generating thumbnails, you must save your Moho document using Save or Save As to preserve the metadata links for future use.

You can customize the layout using the following controls:Resize Panels: Click and drag the vertical divider between the left layer panel and the right target panel. Zoom Target Thumbnails: Hold Ctrl and use the mouse wheel over the target panel to change thumbnail display size. Zoom Layer Tree: Hold Ctrl and use the mouse wheel over the layer panel to change layer-tree text size. Collapse/Expand Groups: Click a target-group header to collapse or expand that group. SwitchTargets automatically remembers panel widths, thumbnail display sizes, layer-tree zoom, and thumbnail generation size settings.

You can open an official technical ticket through the Support Genix portal on our website.
